At GANT, our aim is to Never Stop Learning. In every aspect of our business, we are keen to improve and innovate. How, then, are we taking responsibility for our cotton?
Since the beginning, cotton has been one of the most important sources of materials for GANT. With our ambition to produce garments that last a lifetime, this natural fiber has always been fundamental to our business.
As a way to contribute to much-needed change in the cotton industry, GANT is a proud and active member of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). BCI is the world’s largest non-profit organization working to secure a more sustainable future for the cotton sector. To achieve this mission, BCI-licensed farmers are educated to implement more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable production practices. This means using water more efficiently, minimizing the use of chemicals and the negative effects of pesticides, and improving livelihoods and economic development for cotton growers.
By joining BCI, GANT are helping to:
- Care for the environment in which cotton is grown
- Improve livelihoods and economic development in cotton producing areas
- Improve commitment to and flow of Better Cotton throughout supply chain
- Ensure the sustainability of the Better Cotton Initiative
GANT is committed to sourcing 50% of our cotton as Better Cotton by 2022.
